MasOS Rallies Regional Carnival Community in Support of Jamaica After Hurricane Melissa

The Caribbean Carnival family is once again proving that when the region moves as one, real change can happen. In the wake of Hurricane Melissa, which left many Jamaican families struggling to rebuild, MasOS has activated a regionwide support initiative touching more than two hundred Carnival bands from Trinidad and Tobago to Grenada, Antigua, St Lucia, Barbados, and beyond.

MasOS, developed by CaribbeanOS and quietly powering some of the biggest Carnival operations across the islands and the diaspora, has added an optional post checkout link to the Government of Jamaica’s official relief portal. The link appears only after a masquerader completes their purchase. It does not interrupt the buying experience and does not route funds through MasOS or any participating band. It simply provides a secure way to help for those who feel moved to give.

Co founder of MasOS and CaribbeanOS, Matthew Houllier, says the decision came naturally. Jamaica’s cultural imprint sits at the core of what makes Carnival creative and alive across the region. From music to costume design to the island’s global influence, Jamaica’s hand is in the DNA of Caribbean festivals everywhere.

“Many families remain without basic essentials and are still working to recover after the storm,” Houllier says. “The wider Carnival community has the power to make meaningful contributions when we move together.”

The effort has the full endorsement of Carnival in Jamaica and the Jamaica Tourist Board. Chairman of Carnival in Jamaica, Kamal Bankay, describes the outpouring as humbling.

“I am happy and humbled at the continued support across the region from other Caribbean nations, event industry leaders, members of the diaspora, and masqueraders all over the world. This initiative allows everyone in the Carnival community the opportunity to support the rebuilding effort here in Jamaica following the devastating effects of Hurricane Melissa this past October. Every donation will make a positive impact on those worst affected and we thank you all for your continued support in this time of need.”

MasOS currently powers all three major Carnival bands in Jamaica and remains the official technology partner for Carnival in Jamaica. CaribbeanOS continues to scale the platform across the region and the global diaspora, supporting designers, production teams, and bands with secure systems for inventory management, payments, fulfilment workflows, and masquerader communication.

In a moment when the Caribbean is again reminded how deeply connected we are, the MasOS initiative reflects something every island understands. When one nation is hurting, the whole region shows up.
