Soca Meets Dancehall at WiFete as Machel Montano, Voice and Skippa Take Over Kingston

WiFete Is Back. This Is the Encore.

Soca and Dancehall are set to collide in New Kingston this Carnival Saturday, April 11, as WiFete returns with a sharper focus and a bigger statement. Positioned as Jamaica’s only true Soca-meets-Dancehall concert for the season, the event locks in a heavyweight lineup led by Machel Montano, coming off his 12th Road March win in Trinidad and Tobago with “Encore.”

He’s joined by Voice, whose 2026 anthem “Cya Behave” has been unavoidable across Carnival, and Skippa, one of the most talked-about names pushing Dancehall’s new era. Billed as “Three the Hard Way,” the staging brings three distinct forces together in one space, marking the only opportunity this season in Jamaica to see that crossover happen in a live concert setting.

From 8 PM to 2 AM, New Kingston shifts into full concert mode, with a setup designed for scale, energy, and accessibility, all within reach of the city’s major hotels. The intention is clear. This is not a typical fete environment but a curated show built to match the peak of Carnival Saturday.

Since its debut in 2023, WiFete has steadily carved out its own lane in Jamaica’s Carnival circuit. That first staging, also led by Montano, arrived during the post-pandemic resurgence and quickly made its impact, with consistent feedback across media and attendees pointing to one takeaway. WiFete delivered.

That foundation now sets the tone for 2026, where the vision feels more refined and deliberate. Montano continues to define Soca at the highest level, while Voice arrives off one of the season’s most dominant tracks, and Skippa brings the pulse of Dancehall’s current generation. Together, they reflect a wider Caribbean moment where Trinidad and Jamaica, legacy and momentum, are moving in sync.

Supporting the lineup is DJ Private Ryan, alongside leading DJs from both islands, with additional acts still to be announced. The inclusion of emerging talent from Grenada and other territories signals a broader Caribbean reach, adding depth to the overall sound.

“This is a full concert experience,” promoter Kibwe McGann said. “Multiple artists, live performances, and the DJs shaping the season. We’re bringing the biggest names in Soca, the energy of Dancehall, and putting it all on one stage.”

WiFete’s positioning remains direct. It is the night before Road March, where music, culture, and crowd energy converge at scale, backed by Johnnie Walker and Smirnoff, with additional support from WiPay, Nimble Mobile, MasOS, Visual Vibe, and DIMA Marketing.

Tickets are now available at wifeteja.com, with limited capacity expected. WiFete is back, and this time, it’s the Encore.
