Trinidad’s Carnival launch season continued its fiery momentum last Saturday as Paparazzi Carnival transformed the seafront at Anchorage into a captivating oasis for the unveiling of their latest presentation, Fés: Arabian Night. Drawing deep inspiration from the rich heritage, vibrant colors, and intricate architectural beauty of Morocco, Paparazzi delivered a high-energy showcase that set an opulent tone for the road ahead.
The runway came alive with nine distinct sections, each crafted by a stellar lineup of Carnival’s most celebrated designers. Masqueraders were treated to a visual feast spanning Asraq and Nadira by Rawle Permanand, alongside Amaz, Souk, and Al Kimia by Tishawn Lovell. Phoenix Mas brought vibrant flare with Saffrah, while Anya Ali introduced New, and Shakton Andrews showcased Maalam. Rounding out the evening’s presentation was Layali by Asap Entertainment. From glittering embellishments to multi-textured featherwork, the collection struck a seamless balance between traditional mas craftsmanship and modern design aesthetics.
While the costumes provided the visual grandeur, it was the performers and models who breathed dynamic life into the stage. On the runway, band launch veteran Shena Gurley delivered an exceptional display, continuing an extraordinary run that has seen her feature prominently across nearly every major launch this season. Her timeless beauty, sculpted physique, and commanding presence reaffirmed her status as an indispensable mainstay of Trinidad Carnival. Joining her in turning heads was Rebecca Baptiste, whose standout performance brought electric energy and effortless grace to the Anchorage stage, leaving an undeniable mark on the night.
