Vibes with Voicey

Aaron “Voice” St. Louis first entered the soca industry in 2012, and since then he has won the “International Soca Monarch” title for three consecutive years with “Cheers to Life” (2016), “Far From Finished” (2017) and “Year For Love” (2018). Since then he has made a decision to drop out of all soca competitions and focus on engaging with the international music market. A decision like this would have to include releasing music outside of the Carnival season, which Voice is no stranger to. This year alone, Voice released “By Any Means” in May and “Dancing Away” in September.

“By Any Means” is an ode to soca, partying, playing mas, liming, drinking and having a good time with friends like we used to before COVID-19 struck. All of us, including this 27-year-old artist, miss being able to go out and spend time with our loved ones. To deal with this difficult situation, Voice and his partner in chaos, Major Penny, have started a series of live streams on Instagram every Thursday evening, accurately titled “Vibes with Voicey”.

Voice and Penny start their live stream on Voice’s Instagram account at 9 PM AST (8 PM EST). They play music, have a drink or two and give their viewers a few moments to join. After 10-20 minutes, things begin to get more interesting. Viewers vote for the people they want to see on the live with Voice. Some previous guests on the live stream are Kranium, Lyrikal, Nadia Batson, Akeem 5.0, TravisWorld and even Kes from the musical group ‘Kes the Band’. Without giving too much information away, the live gets out of hand so often that Voice and Penny have introduced giving out official FIFA yellow and red cards to their guests who show little to no behaviour.

With Instagram recently changing the length of a continuous live stream from one hour to four hours, the opportunity for chaos has grown exponentially. So, if yuh like bacchanal, this is the place to be on a Thursday night! Get your drinks, charge your phone (or log into Instagram on your computer), sit back and enjoy the vibes. You and a couple thousand others watching are bound to have a great time! We have all been living under these restraints for long enough to know that it is not easy. Let Vibes with Voicey add some light to your life.
