Summer 2018 was a rewarding one for Barbadian Soca artist “Jus D” as his songs dominated the Crop Over season. Now, Antonio “Jus D” Johnson can add another achievement to his list as his song ‘Manager’ was mentioned as a Billboard Song of the Summer.

This year, to find out what were global hits, Billboard spoke to 12 tastemakers” and Influencers from all over the world to find out what were their respective countries’ summer song. One influencer that Billboard reached out to was Barbadian Dj/Producer Jon Deesy who named “Manager” the song of the summer in Barbados.
“This was everywhere in Barbados — radio stations of varying formats, parties, kids’ phones, malls… you name it. At almost every major show this summer, Jus D was a headline performer. It developed into an anthem for the ladies, because of the song’s message: ‘Raise your hand if you don’t need a manager / You only need a man who can manage you.’ Women latched on quickly, and from there it blew up. We all know that usually if the ladies catch on, the fellas aren’t too far behind.” Jon Deesy told Billboard.
In the article entitled “Beyond Drake: We Asked 12 Tastemakers Around the World About Their Country’s Song of the Summer” by it was explained that Billboard created this list to find out what’s “popping off” around the world, as the Hot 100 is still based on U.S streaming, airplay and sales figures only. Included in the list were artists from Mexico to Russia and Singapore to South Africa. And out of the 12 countries featured, Jus D was the only Caribbean artist.
When Carib Voxx reached out to Jus D about this achieved, he said he was humble and felt amazing.
“To be mentioned on Billboard as one of the songs of the summer is a big deal, I definitely gotta say big respect to Jon Doe for the plug and to my Fuzed team for the work they been doing behind the track.” said Jus D
