Having a high level of confidence is a requisite part of the job for any model, content creator, or influencer. Interestingly enough, demonstrating a high level of confidence as a woman can give persons the perception that she is unpleasant or self-absorbed but in Solana Mitchell’s case that couldn’t be further from the truth.
“The biggest fear I have as an influencer is actually not influencing positively. The reason I do this is to encourage other young women to shine in their own beauty, don’t look up to the trends or others, and try to be someone you are not. Don’t stoop down to the level of society’s beauty standards, you set your own and you stand confident in your own light and beauty, and that’s what I want to continue to do as an influencer produce quality content that can effectively motivate and inspire young ladies on the come up in the industry.” she stated.
Beneath the cerebrally crafted outfits, polished Instagram aesthetic, and her mesmeric hazel eyes, Solana possesses an unending spirit of gentleness, kindness, and compassion that is far from typical. With Trinidadian roots, a USVI upbringing, and an American background, Solana’s perspective on life and by extension content creation is unique but permanently polished.
“Being an influencer has affected my mental health in the way of sometimes finding myself being way too hard on myself, my progress, and my growth. As I said before it’s very difficult to set the standard when society already has this standard set of beauty. And I found myself many times beating myself up for not being as beautiful as I wanted, I found myself being frustrated because I wasn’t getting as many proposals from brands I’ve always wanted to work with, but eventually, I decided that what meant for me will be for me. I shouldn’t have to force anything upon myself or chase after anything or anyone. God has a plan for me and I started trusting in His plan more and more and things eventually started flowing very easily for me and I became at peace with myself and what I do.”
Even though the pressure to maintain her pristine social media image takes a toll on her mental health, her openness to new opportunities and welcoming of new energies that align with her spirit of evolution, keep her refreshed.
With a series of noteworthy influencer campaigns under her belt, Solana has her eyes set on having a greater impact in the Caribbean market, especially with carnival content. Solana is fully cognisant about how many young women admire her and her ultimate motivation is to empower them perpetually. Her ambition to expand and evolve her brand is limitless and she ended our conversation by indicating that ” My dream brand to work with in the future would have to be ego official I love the aesthetic they bring and honestly I feel like working with them would help me to find my own feel and unique aesthetic. There are other local brands I’d love to work with too who are on the come up, and I’d love to help them produce amazing content to bring awareness to their platforms as well.”
