Whether he is playing for Hot 97, at parties, or with a prestigious list of celebrities including Lebron James and Rihanna, DJ Fade “The Future” rocks any crowd. Recently on the island for the Heineken after-work series at Tac Bar in Kingston, the CARIB VOXX team caught up with the in-demand DJ through West N East Entertainment.
“The Heineken experience was great and I felt at home. The staff are incredible and they take their work very seriously. “It was organized and I felt like I was playing at home,” he said in regards to the Tac Bar experience. He admitted that his favourite genres are Jersey Club, Dancehall, and Reggae, and he brought his one-of-a-kind playing style to Kingston’s streets. The DJ, whose given name is Brandon Metz, also confessed that there is a different energy when DJing in Jamaica compared to other countries. He states the preparedness required when playing in Jamaica in order to keep the attention of the crowd versus elsewhere, where you are allowed more time to see what you will play next.
In his time on the island, Dj Fade has been to quite a few events, namely, Beenie Man’s private birthday celebration, Boom Sundays, Uptown Mondays, Pan di Plaza, Ribbiz, and Oneil Place. “Whenever I am on an island, I appreciate life so much more. Not too many people are able to travel as much as I do, so I give thanks. Whenever I am in Jamaica, I check in with all my industry friends and dancers,” said the DJ. Among the people, DJ Fade was in contact with during his trip were Dj Lank of the Code Red Sound, the World Clash 2022 Champion, with whom he was said to be doing some work featuring Tommy Lee Sparta. “I’m bringing a new sound to Jamaica that hasn’t been heard before at this level of production, which I’m excited for everyone to hear!”
When asked what we should look out for next from DJ Fade, he told the CARIB VOXX team of his plans to highlight the Jamaican talent in America that is flying under the radar. “I am actually in all the street dances and connecting directly with all the local artists. No one else that works with major markets like me is doing that, so you can expect a lot from me very soon,” the DJ told us. In addition to that, he will be hosting Dream Weeknd’s next event in New York on September eighteenth. With intentions of a return, Dj Fade expressed his interest in playing for Sandz, BRT Weekend, Reggae Sumfest and other top brands in Jamaica, along with production work like building riddims, collaborating with producers and getting multiple artists to work with.
Though he isn’t sure of his next trip date, DJ FADE “The Future” has more flights to catch to Jamaica for sure.
