On Saturday, April 15, 2023, revellers can look forward to a one-of-a-kind music display, The WiFETE Music Festival, hosted at Sabina Park in Kingston, Jamaica.
The WiFETE Musical Festival will be a carnival-curated event that brings the best of Trinidad & Tobago Live in Jamaica.
What do they mean by the best? The ‘best’ features a lineup of heavy hitters including Machel Montano, Bunji Garlin, and Nailah Blackman. To mix it up a little there will also be appearances by Dancehall sensation, Valiant, and his fellow countryman, Agent Sasco.
Speaking to CARIB VOXX the promoters of the event noted, “We recognized that guests travelling to the island for Carnival in Jamaica, even staunch Soca lovers, still have an expectation that they will hear a bit of dancehall during the Road Parade and weekly festivities. As festival promoters, we thought it would be a great touch to add Jamaica’s biggest dancehall act at the moment, Valiant, to give our guests a taste of Jamaica’s culture and music,” they shared about the strategic addition of Valiant.
Regarding the Soca acts, it is billed that WiFETE is the only program during Jamaica’s carnival season to feature the top three Trinidadian Road March music winners.
Machel Montano makes his eight-year return to Jamaica with his full band and dancers in tote. Another first is the appearance of Bunji Garlin, lead singer and the “Hard Fete” winner of the Trinidad & Tobago Carnival Road March. Nailah Blackman completes the star-studded line-up representing the first runner-up for the Road March song of the year at the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival and she boasts no need for an introduction to the Jamaica audience.
The show will begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. and it will conclude at midnight so that attendees can have ample time to rest up for Road March the next day.
Caribbean Airlines, Red Stripe, The Jamaica Observer, and WiPay are the proud sponsors of WiFETE.
