Credited as the creator of the New Calypso sound, 23 year old Trinidadian singer/songwriter Jimmy October has been making strides at becoming a household name in music on a global scale. Jimmy October has certainly come a far way after winning a national poetry contest in 2013 to opening up shows for acts like J. Cole, PARTYNEXTDOOR and Major Lazer. In 2017 he made an appearance on the album ‘Kolony’ by Steve Aoki, one of the biggest names in EDM.
Since then, Jimmy released a 5-track EP titled ‘Vacation’ and has partnered with Protoje’s In.Digg.Nation Collective. On August 10, 2018, Jimmy released his latest single ‘Remember The Days’ with Delicious Vinyl Island. ‘Remember the Days’ is a New Calypso manifesto, bridging the culture of his native Trinidad & Tobago with R&B and global pop sounds. A nostalgic trip into a distant memory, it captures the intoxicating allure of island rhythms and Caribbean fetes, with a global twist. “I’ve been pushing myself to make music that feels like home but not singing only about things that we can relate to in my country or the Caribbean,” he says. “I’m making music for all people, all cultures. Whoever can feel it.”
‘Remember The Days’ is available for streaming and download on all major music platforms.
