Typical Intern Tasks
As a Graphic Designer Intern at CARIB VOXX, you’ll be integral to creating visuals that embody our brand’s bold and dynamic aesthetic. Responsibilities include:

• Content Creation: Design graphics for CARIB VOXX’s social media channels, website, newsletters, and promotional materials.
• Brand Development: Assist in maintaining and evolving CARIB VOXX’s visual identity, ensuring all graphics align with our brand guidelines and cultural themes.
• Collaborative Design: Work closely with the editorial and social media teams to conceptualize and produce visuals that enhance articles, video content, and social posts.
• Creative Projects: Participate in brainstorming sessions to pitch design ideas for upcoming campaigns, events, and special features.
• Photo and Image Editing: Source, edit, and optimize images for various digital platforms, adding visual elements that enhance engagement.
• Illustration & Layout: Experiment with creative layouts and occasional custom illustrations to add unique, culturally relevant touches to CARIB VOXX’s content.
• Trend Research: Stay updated on design trends, particularly within youth and cultural media, and apply them to keep CARIB VOXX content fresh and engaging.

Requirements

• Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Experience with After Effects is a plus.
• Creativity: A keen eye for detail, color, typography, and composition, with a portfolio that reflects a dynamic and culturally inspired style.
• Communication & Collaboration: Ability to communicate ideas clearly and collaborate with other departments. Must be available on ClickUp and email for real-time updates and feedback during scheduled shifts.
• Weekly Schedule: Available to work 20-25 hours per week on a pre-approved schedule, with flexibility for occasional on-site projects.
• Passion for Culture: Deep interest in African and Caribbean culture, and enthusiasm for expressing this visually.

Learning Objectives, Supervision & Feedback

• Supervision: Interns will work under the guidance of CARIB VOXX’s experienced graphic designer, receiving ongoing feedback and support.
• Skill Development: Develop advanced skills in digital graphic design, brand consistency, and social media aesthetics.
• Portfolio Building: Create professional graphics that can be used in your design portfolio, gaining real-world experience in a high-visibility media environment.
• Performance Tracking: Supervisors will review weekly design submissions, providing constructive feedback to ensure growth. CARIB VOXX will also accommodate school-required evaluations upon request.

Eligibility, Stipend & Credit

• Stipend: $1,500 USD paid upon successful completion of the internship.
• Academic Credit: Available for interns upon school request.
• Location: Candidates must be located in Jamaica for the duration of the internship.
