Typical Intern Tasks

As a Social Media Intern at CARIB VOXX, you’ll dive into the dynamic world of social media content, learning to create engaging posts, optimize strategies, and amplify our brand’s impact. Responsibilities include:

• Content Creation: Develop and schedule daily posts across CARIB VOXX’s social media platforms, including Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
• Social Media Strategy: Participate in team brainstorming sessions to pitch creative social media campaigns that resonate with our audience.
• Engagement & Community Building: Monitor comments, likes, and DMs, actively engaging with followers to strengthen community ties.
• Research: Stay up-to-date with trending topics, hashtags, and industry best practices to inform content ideas and maximize engagement.
• Analytics & Reporting: Track social media performance, pulling insights on reach, engagement, and growth to help refine future strategies.
• Cross-Department Support: Assist with promoting content from other CARIB VOXX departments, such as editorial articles and video series, to drive traffic and engagement.
• Brand Consistency: Ensure all content aligns with CARIB VOXX’s voice and visual aesthetic, working closely with the creative and editorial teams.
• Media Coverage: Deliver live updates and comprehensive post-event content, both on-site and in real-time.

Requirements

• Technical Setup: Access to a personal computer, high-quality smartphone, and a reliable internet connection.
• Communication Skills: Strong communication skills, with real-time availability via ClickUp and email during scheduled shifts for chat, voice, and video calls.
• Weekly Schedule: Ability to work a set schedule of 20-25 hours per week, Monday through Saturday, between 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM ET.
• Familiarity with Social Media Platforms: Strong understanding of Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and LinkedIn, with a good sense for what makes content engaging and shareable.
• Creative Eye: Ability to source or create visually appealing images, memes, and videos.
• Passion for Culture: A deep interest in African and Caribbean culture, along with current trends in music, art, and lifestyle.

Learning Objectives, Supervision & Feedback

• Supervision: Interns will be mentored by an experienced social media manager who will provide consistent guidance, feedback, and support.
• Skill Development: Learn about social media strategy, content creation, brand voice, analytics, and community management.
• Portfolio Building: Gain practical experience managing social media channels for a digital media platform, ideal for your resume and portfolio.
• Performance Tracking: Supervisors will review weekly and monthly engagement metrics to assess growth and provide feedback. If you need academic credit, CARIB VOXX will complete mid- or end-of-semester evaluations upon request.

Eligibility, Stipend & Credit

• Stipend: $1,500 USD paid upon successful completion of the internship.
• Academic Credit: Available for interns upon school request.
• Location: Candidates must be located in Jamaica for the duration of the internship.
