Typical Intern Tasks

As a Video Editor Intern at CARIB VOXX, you’ll delve into the creative world of video editing and content production, contributing to the visual heartbeat of our brand. Responsibilities include:

• Video Editing: Edit short-form and long-form video content for CARIB VOXX’s platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, and our website’s video series.
• Concept Development: Collaborate with the video team to pitch and brainstorm engaging video ideas and concepts that align with CARIB VOXX’s brand and resonate with our audience.
• Social Media Optimization: Repurpose long-form videos into short, shareable clips for social media, maximizing engagement and reach.
• Graphics & Animation: Create and apply motion graphics, captions, and other visual elements to enhance the quality and appeal of videos.
• Content Scheduling: Assist with uploading and scheduling video releases, ensuring consistency across YouTube and other social channels.
• Trend Research: Stay updated on video and editing trends relevant to social media platforms to keep content fresh and engaging.
• Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with other CARIB VOXX teams, such as social media and editorial, to align video content with ongoing campaigns and promotions.

Requirements

• Technical Setup: Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (experience with After Effects and Photoshop is a strong plus) and access to a personal computer and stable internet connection.
• Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities, with availability on ClickUp and email for real-time updates and check-ins during shifts.
• Weekly Schedule: 20-25 hours per week on a set schedule, Monday through Saturday, between 7:00 AM – 9:00 PM.
• Familiarity with Social Media Platforms: Knowledge of YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, with an understanding of trends and engaging video formats.
• Creative Eye: A strong sense of visual storytelling, with an ability to create and enhance engaging video content that aligns with our brand voice.
• Passion for Culture: An interest in African and Caribbean culture, with a pulse on music, art, and lifestyle trends.

Learning Objectives, Supervision & Feedback

• Supervision: Work directly under an experienced video editor, receiving guidance, feedback, and mentorship.
• Skill Development: Gain hands-on experience in video editing, brand voice adaptation, motion graphics, and storytelling.
• Portfolio Building: Create video content for a digital media platform that reflects your skills, perfect for your portfolio.
• Performance Tracking: Supervisors will review video performance metrics weekly and monthly, offering constructive feedback. CARIB VOXX can provide academic credit upon request.

Eligibility, Stipend & Credit

• Stipend: $1,500 USD paid upon successful completion of the internship.
• Academic Credit: Available for interns upon school request.
• Location: Candidates must be located in Jamaica for the duration of the internship.
