Prolific dancehall artist Govana and Grammy Award winner Koffee have scored a goal for Jamaican music. Their single ‘Rapture’ Remix will be featured alongside Buju Banton’s ‘Unity’ and Rema and Rvssian’s ‘Beamer’ (Bad Boys) on the FIFA 21 official playlist, released earlier this week on September 28.
For the 28th installment of the popular football game, FIFA has assembled two individual soundtracks: one specifically for the game, and another for the newly introduced VOLTA mode. The abridged playlist is available for consumption on various digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Deezer.
In reference to the achievement, Govana has expressed his satisfaction and cites it as a win for Jamaican culture, “I feel good about the addition, I believe it is a win for the culture, the country, and Spanish Town, considering both myself and Koffee are from that community.”
The Strike Force Boss says that this accomplishment has surpassed his expectations, “It’s great to see it on such a major global platform as FIFA. As a teenager, I never dreamt I would live to see the day something like this would happen. Now as a recording artist, I never expected it but I am not surprised because we have been putting in the work over the years. These are the types of music accolades I aim for.”
FIFA 21 is set for release on October 9, via the most popular console formats (PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch etc.) and will feature more than 30 official leagues. The game will also include 17,000 players representing over 700 professional teams across the globe. Release dates for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Google Stadia remain unspecified.
