The legendary reggae band of Morgan Heritage is set to release their single ‘Just a Number’ on January 27, produced by Kareem “Remus” Burrell. Creating awareness and sharing their wisdom with melodies, the group speaks of the terrible fact that one’s legacy or financial successes, which one has fought so hard to attain, may be jeopardized because of their personal ideas or opinions.
Morgan Heritage is no stranger to speaking about social narrative, as their previous hits like ‘Tell Me How Come’ serve as proof. The accomplished 3-time Grammy Award-winning reggae band comprises Peetah Morgan, Gramps Morgan, and Mr. Mojo Morgan, three children of the late great Hon. Ras Denroy Morgan. Hailed as the Royal Family of Reggae, the band has been responsible for many hits and musical accomplishments in the reggae genre, and the upcoming single ‘Just a Number’ is highly anticipated.
‘”Just A Number’ was inspired by historic and current figures in the entertainment industry,” says Morgan Heritage. They continued, “We want to make them aware that they should not work hard and sacrifice all their lives to build a career and potentially lose everything overnight because of something you do or say. As students of history, we learned about brutal figures, and we’d like to start a conversation about today’s newsmakers and ensure the youth don’t make the same mistakes.”
“I’m privileged to have produced this track, ‘Just A Number’, and I am really excited for its release,” says Kareem “Remus” Burrell. He also stated how the relationship with Morgan Heritage goes way back as his father, Philip “Fatis” Burrell, produced tracks for the band.
However, the single isn’t the only thing the fans have to be excited about. The fans will have a say in which artwork is selected for their newest single, ‘Just a Number’. Also, the excitement continues as all votes will be registered for a drawing to win prizes such as show tickets and merchandise bundles.
The official music video will also premiere on January 27th via the group’s YouTube channel.
