If you’ve ever had the privilege of running into Lurbz at a fete, you’ll naturally be met with a charismatic greeting. The amicable demeanor he chooses to share with the world only tells half the tale of one of Trinidad & Tobago’s most potent voices. Lurbz’s story is one that depicts triumph, a willingness to persevere, and a masterful understanding of how to network. Trinidad & Tobago is a beautifully resourceful nation, but without connections and a tremendous ability to navigate nepotism, it can be a struggle for many to rise to the top.
“I grew up in the west side of Trinidad and Tobago, in a little area called Carnage. The aspect of my life that brought me to this point was in 2008; my background is videography, and I previously worked at Synergy TV. My bro Aswaad Peters told me, ‘You are better in front of the camera,’ and I took it as having a talent that I want to share with the world on any main stage.” Lurbz has evolved from being an MC to being an entrepreneur, striking lucrative brand deals with many of Trinidad & Tobago’s top companies. He recently launched his marketing agency and has his eyes set on expanding from being one of Trinidad’s premier voices to being one of Trinidad’s premier visionaries. “My career started behind the camera as a videographer.
“I always had a vision for how things should be presented to the world. My marketing company, Triple Anchor Marketing Ltd, is where passion meets creativity, a new avenue for me to create digital content. We live in a digital world now, and I have a group of employees who share the same passion for creativity. So, that’s what brought Triple Anchor Marketing Ltd to life. Anything I do, I try my best to do it with passion; I’m a passionate creative on and off-stage.”
After a glorious and lucrative season of Trinidad Carnival, Lurbz has his eyes fixated on Jamaica Carnival, and he is poised to flourish in the Jamaican market. “The love and respect I have for music really came when I got the opportunity to travel. Seeing different cultures at home (T&T) and now being able to fly to see everywhere I go has their own cultural identity and the different impact that soca brings, just the pure form of love for just music, really is amazing to witness while standing on stage.”
