Amidst his decade of international success and recognition, like the Burna Boy mega collaboration for the track “Secrets” on his LP African Giant and international rapper Eminem sampling his 2008 hit song “No Games”, Serani has been working on compiling his best work yet. His new release “Conspiracy Theory” ft. Bounty Killer and Agent Sasco (produced by Rockstone Records) will leave listeners questioning our perception of the world in general.
A conspiracy theory is an attempt to explain harmful or tragic events as the result of the actions of a small, powerful group. Such explanations reject the accepted narrative surrounding those events. For many years we’ve grown up hearing about several conspiracy theories; most of them with the intent of political gain and control.
“The conspiracy theory song is about all the possible ways we can look at what’s going on in the secret world today (the real truth) as opposed to what we’re being told (the truth they want us to believe). All I need from my fans is a listening and open-mindedness”, Serani says, in explanation of the song.
Serani first met Bounty Killer when he was appointed the musical director for the dancehall legend’s ‘Alliance’ pool of talent. The appointment propelled him into his international break as a solo artist. He had this to say about their collaboration:
“I’m a fan of my brothers Bounty Killer and Agent Sasco, so [a collaboration] within itself was a no-brainer. On top of the fact that I’ve worked with them as a producer, I couldn’t think of any other artists that could have delivered the points I wanted to bring across like my brothers. Bounty Killer is known as an artist that delivers on every track with the most conviction as a DJ, especially when it comes to social commentary, and Sasco is known for his prowess as one of the best lyricists Jamaica has ever seen. I was excited to do this collaboration, and the results will show why”.
