Sheen, a self-acclaimed storyteller with a desire to bring a renewed and fresh approach to music continues to do so through his recently released single, Lot to Lose. The song simulates the artiste’s overall aim to cause his audience to feel the stories he tells as opposed to simply hearing it.
Since this neo-soul type sound is not one that is widely explored in Jamaica and even the Caribbean, the 27 year old extraordinaire draws inspiration from the likes of Khalid, Post Malone, Daniel Caesar, Ed Sheeran,John Legend, Miguel, Wayne Wonder, Mahalia and Hollie Cook, all of whom can be heard simultaneously through his sound. His distinct sound has an undeniably captivating flavour allowing his smooth flow and smokey falsetto to immediately emote sombre feelings that draw his audience into another dimension. Though distinct, the artiste and his songs remain irrefutably relatable as they are charged with unique life experiences which aren’t too far removed from the everyday experiences of the average man, as is the case with ‘Lot to Lose’ which was created out of a dispute his friend was having with his significant other.
Having recently concluded a tour across Europe with Runkus and The Old Skl Bond, the talent is no stranger to the music scene. The artiste formerly known as “Ashani” has worked with and provided supporting vocals for artists such as Roe Summerz, Assassin, Wayne Marshall, Sean Paul, Mavado and I-Octane. Likewise, he has co-produced with the likes of Salim Stines, Big 12 Records , Payday music group and Majah Label Music Group.
Sheen intends to continue to affect the state of the culture in the Caribbean and worldwide with projected new releases next month and an EP to be released in 2019 featuring collaborations with Anju Blaxx, Roe Summerz, Kingbnjmn and others.
‘Lot to Lose’ as well as his other works like ‘So Amazing’ and ‘Distance’ can be found on all Digital Distribution Platforms under the name, “Sheen”.
