Imagine a world where you get to contribute to charity, stay active and enjoy performances from your favourite Soca artists. Well,what if I told you that it is not only an actual event but that it is also a black owned event? Yeah, I thought it was too good to be true too but yes that imagination is an actual reality. It’s called the Soca Run Festival and trust me its an event you MUST stick around to hear more about and how you can participate.
Soca Run Nation is a non- profit organization based the United States of America geared towards promoting health and wellness. The event was founded by Troy Johnson, who is a lover of runs, carnival enthusiast and entrepreneur. By merging the two of his favourite things,Soca music and runs, he was not only able to create an event that was filled with vibes but was able to create a run that was impactful, long-standing and gave back to local communities and charities. The Soca Run Festival is an annual 5K run filled with powder, paint and music that is guaranteed to have you coming back every year. The run has numerous sponsors some of which include Soca artists such as Destra Garcia, Allison Hinds, Lyrikal. This year the run will take place on June 27,2020 and will be done virtually.
How Do I get Involved?
So after hearing about this amazing run you are probably wondering how you can get involved. Well, here are the steps to Register:

- Wait to receive your race bib, SRF bandana, and media in your mail
- Walk/ Run your 5K on June 27 and just fete to their live DJ’s and Performances
- Take those beautiful selfies and upload your winning time to their website
Who does the Run benefit?
Not only will the proceeds from the run be dedicated to Ahmaud Arbery this year but the run also benefits the Central Brooklyn Soccer Club(CBSC) which has over 300 young players in Brooklyn, New York. These players travel internationally to participate in tournaments. Another beneficiary will be the Harmony Dance Academy(HDA) which is an all girls dance academy which focuses on under deserved neighbourhood girls in Brooklyn.
If you thought the event could not get any better they even have their own Merch line!!!! This Merch line is dedicated to Ahmaud Arbery and 100% of proceeds from these shirts will go to Ahmaud Arbery.
