The growth trajectory of Trinidad Carnival from a sociocultural and socioeconomic perspective is truly astounding. The year 2023 marked the return of the festivities, and it served as a captivating reminder of why it’s considered the greatest show on earth. In order for sustainable growth to be achieved in the creative sector of Trinidad’s economy, the attitude towards new market entries has to change. One man who isn’t afraid of change and has a special appetite for disruptive marketing is Mr. Adrian Scoon, the founder of Spirit Mas.
Having curated a legendary team of designers, including the consistently exceptional Rhion Romany, the timeless Sandra Hordatt, the eccentric Levi Marcus, the tenacious Jose Alejandro, and the incomparable Douglas John, Adrian Scoon is confident that Spirit Mas will revitalize some of the forgotten elements of Trinidad Carnival. Since its recent band launch, Spirit Mas has turned the heads of many carnival lovers across the region. The marketing rollout has been impeccable thus far, but it’s befitting of the high standard that we have come to expect from Adrian Scoon as evidenced by events like SOAKA and JUMP.
Last year, his participation in the carnival was unique, as he launched his travel agency Haeven, for Carnival 2023. The Haeven RFID band allowed patrons to access some of the top events that Trinidad Carnival has to offer during this festive time. Haeven was a massive success across the diaspora, and it’s a genius business model for the founder of a new carnival band.
It will be exciting to see how Spirit Mas and, by extension, Haeven will diversify the offerings in Trinidad Carnival for 2024 and beyond. Carnival is a spiritual experience, and we expect Spirit Mas to cultivate a beautiful environment where love, forgiveness, and beautiful friendships will be amalgamated into one crazy carnival experience.
