This Friday, Reggae star Tarrus Riley, otherwise known as Singy-Singy, will be discussing The Rise and Fall of Rude Boys; it is a conversation on “Graveyard”, his latest single. This song is to steer people away from criminality. As reported in the Jamaica Gleaner, Tarrus believes his explicit way of expressing himself in “Graveyard” will help to bring to light the issue of gun violence in Jamaica; rather than speaking of the matter in a ‘politically correct’ way which has no effect on the people. The discussion will be held at the Institute of Caribbean Studies at the University of the West Indies, Mona.
The special lecture starts at 6 pm in the Neville Hall Lecture Theatre (Room N1).
