No other experience changes the trajectory of a woman’s life, the way pregnancy does. Motherhood is a mystical and spiritual experience that exemplifies femininity at its core, creating a deeper sense of purpose in a woman’s existence. “So many things come to mind when I think of how motherhood changed me but I’d say the key is to be present. Time goes by so quickly. So cherish the present moment because we never know what tomorrow holds. Enjoy the now!”

When news of Marieange Bovell’s pregnancy surfaced, it swept the Caribbean like a tidal wave. We understood how important this woman was to carnival culture and she is ready to reclaim her position of creative dominance as a model. “I always loved being able to represent Carnival, not only at home but regionally and internationally. I had to reassure myself to be patient and refocus on the beauty of the journey I was going through.”

A very ironic moment at Tribe Carnival’s recent band launch is a perfect example of the determination we extol Marieange Bovell for. Every models worst nightmare is a busted shoe while on stage showcasing a costume and Marieange was forced to face this unpleasant reality in that moment. She dragged both heels off and continued about her strut, as unbothered as could be.

The moment has caught a whirlwind of attention on social media as, her audience lauded her for the transparency in sharing the post. This comedic moment was probably not the return to the stage Marieange imagined but we have nothing but high expectations for the impact she will have on the market for Carnival 2024. Her only expectations though, are to resume enjoying the spectacle she missed dearly.

“Playing Carnival not pregnant is what I’m looking forward to the most. It was very difficult with it being the first year after Covid and I couldn’t have the typical Carnival experience. It won’t ever be quite the same as a momma now but at least this time, I won’t be toting him on the road with me.”

Grounded, gracious, and poised are all suitable adjectives to describe Marieange but there is a fiercely diligent side of her,  that is destined to put her in the forefront of the industry, picking up exactly where she left off as one of the Caribbean’s most effortlessly brilliant models.
