I am Damian Joseph, a portrait and fashion photographer based in Trinidad. I’m also the owner of Dajoa Studios. I’ve always loved photography, namely portrait photography, which is why I started Dajoa Studios; to be able to have a platform to showcase my work and grow as a photographer. Eventually I started getting bookings and I decided to turn this into a business.

We were going for a basic editorial feel with this set. We made sure the wardrobe complemented the background but had enough contrast between the colours to make her stand out. I went for a really minimal edit but still made sure that her skin tones popped. This is one of my favourite images from the set.

This image is from a set titled “Distance” showing that even being this close to someone, you can feel so far apart.

I wanted to mix high fashion with portraiture and came up with this. The styling was minimal with a dark gray turtle neck and I went with a very neutral background and shot in harsh natural light to create loop lighting that complimented his facial structure. This was actually the first image I took from this set.

This was from a set I shot for local designer Shamilla Designs. We had several themes on the day and this look was based on self love. This was one of my favourite images from that set. I don’t normally shoot in harsh lighting but because we had so many looks to do that day we ended up shooting through noon. With that being said, having the model look slightly up really eliminated any unwanted harsh shadows and it highlighted her facial structure. The editing on this was very minimal as well.
