My name is Rockstaar. I’m a self-taught Photographer and Creative Director based in Jamaica but I’ve been traveling all over the world for the past couple of years. In 2016, I started taking photos and shooting music videos professionally.
It took me about a year to develop my own style which is different perspectives and wide-angled shots. I love shooting lifestyle, street and concert photography but I also work in corporate doing personal branding shoots, sometimes weddings and I’m interested in getting into food photography.
I started posting my travel photos on Instagram and then someone from Dancehall artiste Akaline’s team hired me to cover his tour. Since then I’ve been working in the Dancehall industry, including shooting music videos. In 2018, I shot Akaline’s “Perfect” (which has 7.7 million views on YouTube to date) and have worked with many other artistes such as J. Prynse, Narkoz, Iwaata, Trance Outlaw, Jahvillani, among others.
Over the years, I’ve built Rocket Visions media company with my partner Jxsse Jxmes. My inspiration comes from my surroundings (especially traveling to other countries) and my creativity is manifested from my motivation to be successful.
My motto is Believe in yourself, more than others believe in you.
Alkaline – Perfect
In 2018, I shot the music video “Perfect” for Alkaline. It was in a strip club, and it was a dark and kind of moody scene.
Sherry DaCosta at Carnival
I shot this beauty, Sherry DaCosta, at Carnival in Jamaica last year (2019).
Wedding Photo
I shot this wedding a couple of months ago and it was very rigorous. Shooting for 10 hours straight can get be really intensive, but I wanted to make sure the shots were perfect because your wedding is something that they will never experience again.
Narkoz – White Tees
I like to tell stories and music videos give me the freedom to do that. I usually go off of what the song is about and go from there.
Alkaline Concert Photo
I shot this photo of Akaline in Nassau, Bahamas back in 2019 while we were on tour. In the past year, we’ve traveled to Ghana, Cayman, Germany, Trinidad, Grenada and Guyana.
