A culture that’s rich in spirit and vast in its global impact, has no place for ethnocentricity. Caribbean culture is distinctly unique because the warmth of our people, allows us to embrace persons who fall in love with our culture but are not from our culture. Dancer and model turned fitness entrepreneur Veronie is one such example of an individual who fell in love with Caribbean culture, and has been embraced by our people.

As a dancer and model, Veronie has worked with some of the most endearing talents and entities in the Jamaican entertainment scene. From dance appearances in Vybz Kartel music videos to modeling at band launches for premier carnival bands such as Xodus, Veronie has built a formidable entertainment brand despite living in Jamaica, for only a few years.

“Being a professional dancer was the reason I first came to Jamaica for the first time in 2014. I came here with my best friends one of whom is Bambaii, a dancer for Machel Montano. We came here because we were fascinated by Jamaican culture and we wanted to learn more about it. . “

Veronie, who is originally from Slovakia was forced to recalibrate like many others amidst the pandemic. Many of her earning opportunities in the entertainment industry, were put on hold during lockdown but her resourceful and resilient spirit led her to embrace the route of creative entrepreneurship.

Building brains, beauty, and booty is the mantra that Double Bubble was conceptualized on. The earth–conscious brand is designed to empower and encourage women, to stay fit even during these unprecedented times.  The Double Bubble resistance band, was the brand’s first product and thus far it’s been a great success. Resistance bands help to build the body’s stabilizing muscles while improving the quality of exercises.

In the realm of fitness and wellness, Veronie leads by example and she is constantly showing her clients different exercise’s that can usefully include the use of the Double Bubble resistance band. The colours and the design of the band are equally as vibrant as Veronie’s personality. The Double Bubble brand is a natural fit for Veronie, who prides herself as being a woman with many different talents and interests.

With summer fast approaching, Veronie has decided to expand the Double Bubble brand into swimwear with her NUE collection. Swimwear design is a saturated market so we were very direct in asking Veronie how she felt her brand differed from what was already on the market and without hesitation she expressed that: “ I think the main thing is the approach we use to make the swimsuits. My fabric is made from 100% ocean and landfill waste, which is environmentally friendly and more sustainable”

Veronie’s design philosophy is rooted in the idea that sustainability is sexy hence why she has taken such an environmentally conscious approach to NUE. What she has also done, is create a more expansive concept of sustainability by embracing body positivity and diversity amongst females.

“NUE is designed by a woman and made for women so it represents a whole movement. Inclusivity is important to me because in Europe my body type is seen as plus size just because I have curves. Some places I visit and my body type is considered attractive, some places I visit I am considered overweight so I wanted my brand to be a way to advocate for inclusivity officially.“

Veronie’s degree in Media & Communication from the Metropolitan University in Prague has served her well and the marketing potential of Double Bubble is truly limitless. Veronie’s consistency, work ethic, and immense passion have given her noteworthy acclaim in Jamaica’s branding and digital marketing arena. In closing, she dotingly stated: “I want to ensure my brand caters to every type of woman there is irrespective of age, shape or colour. All women should be able to find something appropriate for them in my collection and no matter what colour or shape you are, once you’re women, you’re still beautiful. “
