Trinidadian-based urban/ street clothing brand KIN Clothing celebrated its second-anniversary last week, with limited edition color-block embroidered hoodies. The line’s latest drop came alongside a collaboration with Coutain and Hey Choppi for their latest single, “Drip”.
The new design was featured in the pair’s music video, with a red and black variation worn by Coutain while he and Hey Choppi dance and serenade their “leading gyal inna d class” with smooth lyrics.
As Coutain sings, “Brother yeah me kin, and me nuh talk the clothes.” The KIN logo, always visible on the hoodie, is a fitting symbolic collaboration between the brand and the ‘Young Ragamuffin’ from Big Blood as his lyrics often reference his friends and brothers as ‘kin’.
This avenue of collaboration is not the first for the clothing label, having done work with other ‘Trinibadian’ artists such as ‘Bompton King’ Tafari for collaborations on previous video promos and local talent such as photographers, musicians, and models. Promotions often feature strong Caribbean influences as the brand represents local pride and high-quality clothing with a patriotic twist.
