Evaflow, rising reggae fusion artist, continues to push the boundaries of Jamaican music with an innovative 3-track project titled R.O.A.R – Rise Of A Renaissance – Sky Tape (Vol. 1). Each track demonstrates his ability to cross genres. Evaflow, real name Matthew Elliott, released the project on his independent label SkyStarter Creative, introducing his talents as a producer. He states: “I am really excited about sharing this project, I feel like it shows 3 different sides to me, and can really give the audience a great idea about where I’m coming from, what I’ve been through and where I’m going. Because of the heaviness and vulnerability in “Gorilla Glue” and “Wake Up” I wanted to balance that energy out with something people can dance to and just fulljoy themselves, hence, “Goodaz.” ‘Rise Of A Renaissance’ is the rise of the full manifestation of my creative legacy. It’s definitely, to be continued.”

The first track, produced by Evaflow himself, is the psychedelically funky “Gorilla Glue”. It is a poetic ode to smoking the strain of cannabis which the song is named after. In soft tones and continuous flow, Evaflow raps and sings thoughts about life.

The single “Goodaz” was a fan favourite prior to the project’s release. After previews and live Instagram performances, fans demanded the release of the dance tune. The afrohall anthem which he co-produced with Paris LaMont is a feel good track that shows Evaflow’s talent for mixing genres successfully.

Ending on a sentimental note, “Wake Up” is an introspective lofi chill-hop jam produced by JUNO award winning producer Jay Hodgson (part of the Dazed Beathead Collective). In his existential musings, he recalls his morning routines and lists reasons to wake up every morning. It’s pensive yet motivational, his soothing voice reminding listeners to give thanks for each day regardless of your circumstances.

The project is receiving widespread positive reviews with no clear cut favourite. Although it includes the popular single “Goodaz”, the solidity of the project is exhibited by the fact that fans list the other two tracks as favourites. R.O.A.R. is innovative yet vulnerable and suits the taste of a wide variety of listeners.
