Dancehall heavyweight Mavado, known for hits including “Real McKoy”, “Touch Di Road”, “Settle Down” and “Progress”, has teamed up with producer Sponge Music on the inspiring and thought-provoking track, “Not Perfect”.

“I wouldn’t say it was one particular thing that was the inspiration behind this song. I am nothing without my family and friends, and don’t forget the fans,” said Mavado in a media release.

On the track, Mavado says a lot of persons have misunderstood him. He took the opportunity to make it clear that he’s not one to get involved in unnecessary drama. The deejay also pledged his love for his family, friends and his fans and even took the time out to address persons who do not wish him well. Mavado also spoke about the musical legacy that he has created, which persons with ill intentions are seeking to destroy; his achievements include Billboard chart success with songs such as “Weh Dem a Do” and “So Special”.“Legacy me create dem wah fi rub it out,” said Mavado.

He continued, “Wish me coulda tell you that I’m perfect but I’m not/ Its me said one from the block/ Many of my friends here some not/ I got a couple run ins with the cops.”
“Not Perfect” is featured on the World Press Riddim. The instrumental also has featured songs by Alkaline, Shaneil Muir and Bugle among other acts.
