Joining Koffee, Proteje, and Lila Iké, Jamaican songstress Sevana was featured on the National Public Radio (NPR) Tiny Desk quarantine series. The In.Digg.Nation Collective artist recorded her set from the Kingston Creative Hub in September 2020.
The NPR Tiny Desk series has become popular over the past few years and usually features some of the hottest artists. The series sets itself apart with its intimate performances recorded at the (tiny) desk of host Bob Boileen in Washington, D.C., USA. In 2020, the show introduced the quarantine series to continue its broadcast. Due to the pandemic, sets have been recorded remotely and released on YouTube.
Sevana performed four songs from her 2020 EP, Be Somebody – “If You Only Knew,” “Blessed,” “Be Somebody,” and “Mango.” She had repeatedly expressed her nervousness, but once the music started she was drawn into the songs as she sang and danced along. She effortlessly transitions between her genre-bending songs, inviting anyone watching to get sucked into the music with her.
